Establishment of Comprehensive Breast Care Centers
Israel Cancer Association

The ICA invests countless resources in constructing and renovating oncological departments. As part of this endeavor, ICA has assisted in the construction of breast care centers, where comprehensive care is provided by multi-disciplinary personnel.

In the year 2002 we saw the inauguration of the new Breast Care Center at the Rambam Medical Center, which joined additional centers constructed with assistance from ICA, such as Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheva, and the Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv. ICA, with the generous donation of Mrs. Linda R. Kaminow, assisted in the establishment of the Claire & Emanuel G. Rosenblatt Comprehensive Breast Care clinic in the Italian Hospital in Nazareth.

With the assistance of the Friends of the Israel Cancer Association in London, headed by the energetic chairperson, Vered Aaron, and the generous donation of the Reuben Family, the establishment, in 2005, of the Nancy Reuben Comprehensive Breast Care Center, in Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba, was made possible. Thanks to assistance provided by the Israel Cancer Association, the year 2006 saw the inauguration of the Meirav Breast Care Center at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer. Similarly, the Mammography Institute at the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon was also renovated and expanded and outfitted with modern state of the art equipment to conduct mammography screening tests and early detection tests for breast cancer, thanks to a contribution from the Alsace and Feist families in memory of Arena Feist-Alsace of blessed memory.

With the help of a generous contribution provided by David and Simon Reuben, and their family, and a fundraising event held by the Friends of the ICA in London, headed by Ms. Vered Aharon, was inaugurated in 2008 the Nancy Reuben Comprehensive Breast Health Center at the Linn Clinic in Haifa. The Linn Medical Center is a professional community medical center which provides ambulatory service to insureds of Clalit Healthcare Services in the Haifa district and the northern region. The new center constitute a professional and high quality service that is providing women of the Haifa area and northern region with medical service, accompaniment and personal support from the moment they are diagnosed with breast cancer, and until the completion of the coping process and rehabilitation.

Similarly, the construction of the Sara Markovitch Breast Care Center has been completed at the Kaplan Medical Center, in memory of Sara Markovitch's children Micky and Shimon Slepter of blessed memory, and the equipment necessary for its operation was purchased also with assistance of the ICA. The center opened at an ICA sponsored seminar.
