The Reuben Foundation & Virgin Unite Haiti Fundraiser
The breathtaking Altitude 360 in Millbank, which is a prized London asset of the Reuben Brothers, played host to an extraordinary evening of entertainment and fundraising on Wednesday 26th May. The glittering event, hosted by The Reuben Foundation and Virgin Unite, the non profit foundation of the Virgin Group, brought together an elite guest list to offer their support to Free the Children and SOS Childrens Villages, two charities working towards long term, sustainable strategies to rebuild Haiti following the devastation of the earthquake.
World renowned Simon de Pury lent his expertise as auctioneer, helping to raise funds on behalf of the Haiti Project. Auction lots included a once in a lifetime vacation to Sir Richard Bransons favourite hideaway Necker Island, a private plane for four to Alicia Keys concert in Barcelona, drinks and scrabble with Joan Collins, an hour on the pitch with football legend Pel, and VIP tickets to see Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Lopez in Paris.
Guests enjoyed a performance from Virgin Unite Ambassador and Grammy Award winner Estelle, and a set from resident Radio One DJ Jo Whiley. On hand to MC the evening was one of Britains most loved TV personalities and philanthropists Carol Vorderman MBE, and renown entrepreneur Tim Campbell, winner of the BBCs Apprentice and founder of the social enterprise, Bright Ideas Trust.
The sumptuous four course menu catered by Salt and Pepper Private Food Design, included a choice of lightly poached lobster claw with white asparagus, Tournedos of beef, cepe fricassees, pommes pont neuf and red wine jus, and a duo of chocolate mousse and berry puree. Of course guests didnt leave empty handed, the goody bags included a Wagner and Bond Lesson in Diamonds Voucher and a Colombo Scarf from House of Cashmere.
Lisa Reuben, Trustee of the Reuben Foundation, commented: We were delighted to work with Virgin Unite to put together this evening for such an important cause. Whilst the immediate recovery effort in Haiti is over, the communities there are desperate for support in rebuilding their lives and we are very grateful to all of our guests and sponsors who so generously supported the event and made sure we can make a tangible difference on the ground in Haiti.
Holly Branson said: Its important that people work together to help the 3 million people in Haiti. Thats why Virgin Unite and the Reuben foundation have joined forces tonight to support the ongoing efforts of two amazing charities working on the frontlines.
