Team London – a Reuben Foundation Project with the Mayor of London

Mayor Boris Johnson
Mrs Cameron and the Mayor launch the Team London scheme at City Hall with the Reuben Foundation.

The Reuben Foundation, through a Multi-Million pound endowment has launched Team London in partnership with the Mayor of London and with the strategic help of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Based on a programme initially developed by McKinsey & Company for the Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, Team London is an ambitious vision for volunteering which encourages individuals, organisations, public, private and voluntary to work more effectively together to transform communities and the lives of Londoners, particularly in priority need areas.

Introducing the concept of “impact volunteering” in which existing voluntary community organisations are mobilised to develop strategies to target London’s most urgent community needs, Team London will increase the number of voluntary efforts and will set clear outcomes and measurements to judge progress.

Team London will focus on three key areas - crime, improving quality of life and increasing youth opportunities.

The programme was launched to the voluntary community in March 2011 with the official public launch held on 30 June 2011 in City Hall along with the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and the Prime Minister's wife, Samantha Cameron. The Mayor, Mrs Cameron and James Reuben each gave speeches to mark the launch of the Team London programme. A copy of James Reuben’s speech can be seen by clicking here.
