In October 2008, through a multi-million pound contribution, The Reuben Foundation Children’s Cancer Center was opened, thus enabling Great Ormond Street Hospital to become the largest centre for paediatric cancer treatment in Europe and one of the top three largest centres in the world. The Reuben Foundation Children’s Cancer Centre provides a new Daycare Centre, Outpatient Department and three inpatient wards situated within Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The Reuben Foundation also contributes to the ‘Tick Tock Club’ at Great Ormond Street Hospital and has hosted and sponsored various events in aid of the hospital including a gallery reception in October 2010 and a charity race day in November 2010 (make clicakable to news section)
In 2012, the Reuben Foundation, through its support of the charity Racing Welfare, acquired a racehorse for one year and named it ‘Great Ormond’. All prize money won by the horse will go to supporting Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, London.

The opening, attended by Mayor Boris Johnson described the new Centre as:
“helping to bridge the gap between rich and poor in London”
Dr. Jane Collins, Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Chief Executive has paid tribute to the support from the Reuben Foundation:
“Over the course of our 150 year history Great Ormond Street Hospital has been fortunate to receive significant support from key individuals. This hugely generous gift from The Reuben Foundation represents another chapter in this history of philanthropy and will have a profound impact on the thousands of children suffering from cancer who are referred to us from London and across the country. We are proud of our world-class cancer programme, both in terms of the treatment we offer and our research to find new cures for childhood sufferers. The generosity of the Reuben Family will enable us to provide our patients and staff with the best facilities to treat their condition.”
Tim Johnson, Executive Director of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity:
“We are absolutely thrilled to be the beneficiaries of this wonderful gesture by the Reuben Foundation. The Reuben family have been dear friends of Great Ormond Street Hospital for many years and this latest pledge of support will hopefully enable us to provide even more advanced care for some of the UK’s sickest children and their families. As a charity we have always been lucky to have a strong link and community of supporters within the UK racing fraternity and I am sure that they, like us, will be looking forward to cheering on Great Ormond over the course of the coming season.”
